Exterior Renovation

Siding, roofing, windows, doors, and full exterior renovations that protect and elevate Richmond-area homes.

We renovate exteriors end to end — siding, roofing, windows, doors, and trim — improving curb appeal, energy efficiency, and durability across Greater Richmond. When the envelope of a house is failing, there’s no cosmetic fix. We do the work right so you don’t revisit it.

What we cover

  • Fiber cement siding — James Hardie lap, board-and-batten, and panel products are our go-to for Central Virginia’s humidity and temperature swings: holds paint longer, resists rot, insects, and impact
  • Vinyl siding — a solid choice for investment properties or tighter budgets; quality and profile depth have improved considerably
  • Roofing — architectural shingles, ridge ventilation, ice-and-water shield at eaves and valleys; we don’t cut corners on underlayment or drip edge
  • Windows and exterior doors — replacement windows in existing frames or full new-construction windows when framing is compromised; entry, storm, and patio door installations
  • Trim, soffit, and fascia — often the first place rot takes hold; we replace with cellular PVC or pre-finished materials that won’t need repainting in a few years
  • Gutters and downspouts — seamless aluminum, properly routed away from foundations

What separates a well-executed renovation from a quick-flip job: doing trim and flashing in the same pass. Correctly lapped flashing at windows, doors, and penetrations means water can’t find a path in.

Our design-build process

As a Virginia Class A licensed general contractor (license #2705188410), we manage the full exterior scope from inspection through final walkthrough — one point of contact, not a chain of subcontractors.

We start by inspecting the existing envelope: probing for soft spots, checking flashing at windows and roof-wall intersections, identifying structural issues before new materials go on. We build a scope, pull required permits, and don’t touch the house until everything is in order. For storm damage, we coordinate with adjusters and document conditions throughout. Contact us to schedule an inspection.

Dealing with aging Masonite and original siding

A large number of Richmond-area homes built in the 1980s and 1990s have Masonite hardboard siding that is at or past the end of its service life. Masonite absorbs moisture, swells, and rots — often behind intact paint. If your siding feels soft or you’re seeing horizontal cracking at lap seams, it’s time to evaluate the full envelope.

Re-siding is also an opportunity to upgrade to James Hardie fiber cement, add house wrap, address sheathing damage, and update windows in the same mobilization — almost always more cost-effective than separate projects. See our design-build overview for how bundling scope under one contractor compares.

Common questions

How long does a full re-siding project take? On an average two-story home, installation runs one to two weeks. Factor in material lead time, permitting, and any sheathing repair that turns up during demo.

Will new siding improve my energy bills? Siding alone won’t dramatically change energy performance, but replacing rotted or compromised material eliminates moisture infiltration that degrades insulation over time. We can assess wall insulation as part of the project scope.

Do you handle the full project or just the siding? We handle the full exterior envelope — siding, trim, soffit, gutters, windows, and doors — under a single contract. One schedule, one point of accountability.
